I study how conflicts of interest and lobbying shape policy and regulation, and which institutional safeguards protect independence and public trust. A key focus of my work is political finance regulation, including how rules are designed, negotiated, and adopted in practice. I also examine industry funding of civil society organizations, looking at how funding relationships operate on the ground and how transparency and governance requirements can mitigate undue influence.
Political finance rules: What regulatory designs reduce undue influence while remaining enforceable?
How rules get made: How do political incentives and stakeholder pressure shape how COI and finance laws are drafted and passed?
Industry funding of civil society: When does funding create dependencies or agenda-setting, and which disclosure and governance standards help manage risks?
